Daily Features

Our Menus at Virginia Episcopal School feature:

At all meals:

  • Cereal Station – variety of sugared and non-sugared selections, including our house made granola
  • Baker’s Corner – including bagels; variety of sliced breads (wheat, white, multi-grain); jellies, preserves, assorted spreads and honey
  • Omelet and Rice Bar - MYO (make your own) stations; with salsa, bacon bits and cheese and a variety of asian oils and sauces for making fried rice.
  • Fruit, Yogurt, Granola – whole fresh fruit (local in season); granola; yogurts (99% fat free and fruited)
  • Beverages – milk (skim, 2%, soy, lactose-free, and low-fat chocolate); assorted juices, iced tea (sweetened and unsweetened); hot cocoa (seasonal); Shenandoah water

Breakfast:

  • Breads – homemade muffins, specialty breads, cinnamon rolls, biscuits
  • Hot things - cereals; eggs; French toast or pancakes; breakfast meats; accompaniments (potatoes every which way, baked fruits); MYO (make your own) stations:  omelets, waffles and fried rice

Lunch & Dinner:

  • Deli bar - select all natural meats (like turkey breast); breads; assorted cheeses; lettuce/tomato and other seasonal local veggies; specialty spreads, pickles, peanut butter and jelly
  • Salad bar - leafy greens (iceberg, romaine, spinach); assorted veggies (local in season); beans and legumes; meats; cut fruits; tofu; cheeses; eggs; dry toppings (croutons, bacon bits, seeds); select homemade dressings (including balsamic vinaigrette, Italian and our own ranch with non fat buttermilk); olive oils, balsamic and red wine vinegar
  • Fresh for you (FFY) and specialty bars - seasonal fare, theme meals, and monotony breakers
  • Composed salads – protein and veggie creations
  • Soups – homemade daily
  • Entrees – always offering classic and “healthier” selections, including vegetarian and vegan options
  • Pasta special - rotated (hot or cold selections), frequently featuring ethnic recipes
  • Tasty sides - including starch and veggie selections, accompaniment or specialty bread
  • Dessert - rotated seasonal fresh whole and cut fruit; fruited and non-fat yogurt; granola; homemade treats
  • Frozen Yogurt – alternating with desserts
